Seeking a jaw-dropping shot of the majestic Matterhorn during sunrise out of your hotel window? Well, Alpine Hotel Perren is the one.

Dubbed as one of the most visited 3-star hotels with only 5 minutes from the Zermatt GGB train station on foot, Alpine Hotel Perren provides an impeccable relaxing vibe for all types of travelers. On top of that, the hotel provides an excellent base for skiers as it’s only 6 minutes away from the Matterhorn Ski Paradise Resort.

The Bedroom and Bathroom

Alpine Hotel Perren offers 8 accommodation types, ranging from Comfort Single Room to Matterhorn View Suite and Apartment Castor. I got myself a stellar Comfort Double Room with two beds attached to each other on a blanketed floor and a beautiful view out of the breezy balcony.

Spacious and clean with a modern European design, the room does not offer a straight-up view of the Matterhorn but you can still have a glimpse at its peak at a distance.

Some of the rooms come with a better view of the Matterhorn at a slightly higher rate. Zermatt is such a busy town with a dense building population that happens to push the Matterhorn vista kinda out of the way.

The bathroom is placed at a corner of the bedroom. Albeit a compact footprint, it still offers a comfortable time winding down in your own comfort. The wash basin table top totally suffices your personal hygiene and makeup kits. The only downside is that there’s no curtain separating the bathtub from the rest of the bathroom to prevent it from splashing all over the place.

The Breakfast

Like 20 other hotels I stayed at during my 3 weeks there, Alpine Hotel Perren also offers a classic continental breakfast buffet. You should expect to see seasonal fruits, ham cheese, yogurt, milk, eggs, cereal, bacon, coffee, and tea. While the offers are the same, each hotel stocks up its own choices of pastries, fruits, and juice depending on what’s in season and available in the region.

Conclusion

Overall, Alpine Hotel Perren is an excellent choice thanks to its central location by the train station in Zermatt and the reasonable nightly rate it offers. The luggage drop-off store is available all day from 7:00 to 22:00. The rooms are quiet with a beautiful view over the Matterhorn during sunrise. However, there is an absence of a kettle and refrigerator in the room. But if these drawbacks don’t bother you, book with Alpine Hotel Perren ahead of time for the best rate.
