St Moritz Soldanella Hotel

Overlooking the dreamy water of Lake St. Moritz and the far-flung mountains, Hotel Soldanella is one of the coolest 3-star, all-inclusive hotels in the heart of St Moritz-Dorf.

St Moritz Soldanella Hotel

Going strong since 1975, Hotel Soldanella is owned and managed by the Degiacomi and is known as a household name for local Cresa riders and travelers alike with its well-received Caprice Restaurant as well as the Zoo Bar and Terrace.

With a short 20-minute walk from St. Moritz train station, Hotel Soldanella makes a perfect base to explore the main happenings in town, sipping on fine wine out of their Bacchus Wine Cellar, and relaxing your tired muscles at its on-site Yemaya Spa.

Hotel Soldanella At A Glance

The Good

  • Invincible lake view
  • Reasonable nightly rate
  • Luggage storage counter
  • Quietness
  • Amazing breakfast
  • Hot water bottle available in the room

The Bad

  • No minibar
  • Not right next door to the train station or supermarket

The First Impression

The hotel is not right next to the train station. So if you’re having some luggage with you, I recommend booking ahead for pick-up service at an extra charge.

You can do this by sending them a message ahead of time via messages with your expected arrival time and they will wait on you at the parking lot outside of the exit terminal of the train station.

Once you get out, look for the van with the hotel name on it and the driver will take you directly to the hotel within minutes. The bellman over there will collect your bags and fetch them directly to your room.

The Bedroom and Window View

St Moritz Soldanella Hotel

Soldanella Hotel goes by an enchanting Art Nouveau style. On any given summer day, the breathtaking views from the terrace opening out to the lake and the three-thousand-meter peaks of the Upper Engadine help you wake up on the right note.

Hotel Soldanella has eight room options for you to choose from. Each room can accommodate from one to four guests. The jaw-dropping scenery makes it a lot more interesting to stay at and the room is sparkling clean and comfortable to chill out.

The window view from my bedroom is beyond imagination as you can see from the pictures below. From the serene lake to the distant snow-capped mountains, you name it.

The Bathroom

St Moritz Soldanella Hotel

Like most other hotels in Switzerland, the bathroom at Soldanella is soaked in a typical old-fashioned vibe, especially the square tiles splashed on the walls. There is a small bathtub tucked in a corner of the room. The hot water pressure suffices for a pleasant evening shower, especially during the coldest months of the year.

However, the vanity is a bit small to accommodate all of your hygiene kits and make-up tools in one go.

Make sure to bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush to any hotel in Switzerland as those are some things they don’t always provide, especially in three-star hotels.

Conclusion

St Moritz Soldanella Hotel

Stellar breakfast is another bonus for Soldanella Hotel. The rotating free flow of continental breakfast surely charges you up before you hit the street to explore. Compared to other medium-range hotels in the area, Soldanella provides the best comfort of home, especially with the thoughtful add-in of the on-site bar, restaurant, and spa albeit the obscure distance to the train station and supermarket.
