A Visitor’s Guide to Umeda Sky Building: Getting In, Osaka Amazing Pass, Food Spots, And More

Located in Osaka’s Umeda district, the Umeda Sky Building features a rooftop Floating Garden Observatory where you can enjoy breathtaking river sunsets and the dazzling Osaka night view. In the basement, the retro-style Takimi Koji street is home to the famous Kiji okonomiyaki, a must-try spot for food lovers. It’s one of my top recommended attractions for anyone visiting Osaka for the first time.

What Is The Best Way To Get To Umeda Sky Building?

The Umeda Sky Building is easily accessible from Osaka Station and Umeda Station.

Both of these arrival stations are connected to the Shin-Osaka Station on the Osaka East Line and Tokaido-Sanyo Line. You only need 15 minutes including walking if starting from these two stations. Otherwise, the Midosuji Line also comes in handy, though it takes longer to 20 minutes from the Shin-Osaka Station.

After exiting, head west for ten minutes until you see a direction signpost as shown in the picture below. Pay attention to the yellow “F arrow which eventually leads you to Fun Fun Plaza.

To experience the best views, head to the Sky Garden Observation Deck on the 40th floor. Getting there is an adventure in itself. The journey begins on the 35th floor with a dazzling star-lit escalator that ascends to the 39th floor, where you can find the ticket office and a shop for souvenirs. From there, the final climb leads to the observation deck, where you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Osaka.

A unique feature of the Umeda Sky Building is the “Sky Bridge,” a glass-walled passage that connects the two towers 87 meters above the ground. Typically, this bridge is reserved for employees, but guided tours allow visitors to walk across, giving you the sensation of floating in the sky.

Whether you’re there to take in the views, enjoy a romantic night stroll, or explore the unique architectural design, the Umeda Sky Building is a must-visit destination in Osaka.

The view is a feast for the eyes, waiting for you from the Sky Garden Observation Deck. In fact, this is a circular corridor that spans between the two East-West buildings, perched 173 meters off the ground. It’s dubbed as one of the best spots to watch sunset in all of the country but you’ve gotta do the homework and check the weather before getting there.

As the sun beams down, the Umeda Sky Building is steeped in an ocean of lights, dazzlingly standing tall. Not only does the view sweeping wraparound vista turn into a dreamy atmosphere but the corridor quickly turns into a starry walkway known as the Lumi Skywalk. The floor is sort of like a big marble stone that shines as you step on it.
